The current outbreak of Hepatitis A in San Diego has been in the news and has caused more anxiety in the beach area due to possible exposure at a local restaurant. In response to patients' requests, we have obtained the Hepatitis A vaccine, which is now available at our clinic. The vaccine will provide immunity within 10-14 days after getting the injection. A second injection given six months later will provide life-long immunity. You may wish to contact your insurance carrier prior to receiving the vaccine to inquire whether the service is a covered procedure. We can also do testing for Hepatitis A if you think that you may have been exposed to the virus. If you have further questions about Hepatitis A, please call our clinic and we will be happy to answer those questions.
